Dallas Wings rookie Azzi Fudd is emerging as a frontrunner in the 2026 Rookie of the Year conversation, from winning the 3-Point Shootout contest to now shattering a new record as a rookie. In the game between the Dallas Wings and the Connecticut Sun on August 2, the rookie guard broke teammate Arike Ogunbowale‘s previous franchise record of three-pointers made by a rookie. 

Freelance journalist Drake Keeler posted about Fudd’s achievement on his X feed following the Wings-Sun showdown at College Park Center in Arlington, Texas.

“Azzi Fudd is the Dallas Wings’ all-time rookie leader in 3PM, surpassing Arike Ogunbowale tonight.”

The 2026 first overall pick has become an essential part of the Wings’ rotation, even starting 22 out of the 28 games she has played this season. During the game against the Sun, Fudd played 24 minutes and shot 80% from beyond the arc. She notched four three-pointers in the game out of the five she had shot. This brings her total three-pointers made to 61, the highest ever by a rookie in Dallas Wings history. 

The previous record was held by Arike Ogunbowale, who had scored 57 three-pointers in her rookie year in 2019. Ogunbowale was drafted by the Dallas Wings back in 2019 with the fifth overall pick. She has remained with the team throughout her time in the W. The 2020 WNBA scoring leader scored 57 out of the 162 three-pointers she attempted in her rookie year, making her 3P percentage 35.2%. 

Ogunbowale has consistently performed for the Wings over the years. The four-time All-Star has maintained a 34.6% 3P% along with averaging 19.4 points per game, along with 3.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists. The veteran has even won the  WNBA All-Star Game MVP twice over her illustrious eighth-season career with Dallas. 

While Azzi Fudd may not be beating Ogunbowale in any other stat comparison, the rookie guard is averaging more three-pointers than her. Fudd is currently averaging 13.3 points along with 1.8 assists and 1.8 rebounds in her first season. Fudd’s three-point shooting has drawn attention since her WNBA debut.

The University of Connecticut alum has set the record for the most three-pointers made by a rookie in a quarter, when she made five three-pointers on May 24 in a  91-76 win against the New York Liberty.

Azzi Fudd has made her place in the W through impressive performances and stunning three-pointers. The rookie now looks forward to bringing up the new generation of hoopers with the guidance they require. 

Azzi Fudd is hosting her latest training camp in Dallas 

Fudd and her team have established the second-best offensive rating in the league, thanks to her incredible three-pointers and teammate Paige Bueckers’ 20.8-point average. The Wings have an offensive rating of 113.8, second only to the Indiana Fever. The Wings seem to be in a comfortable spot to make the playoffs this season.

But amid playoff pressure, Azzi Fudd announced that her training camp is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. The Wings star put out a post on Instagram stating that in celebration of this milestone, she would be bringing her camp to Dallas for the first time. This could be because she was drafted by Dallas and continues to play for them. 

All her prior camps have been held in Washington, D.C., where they enjoyed a great deal of success. She now plans to expand the program to the city she represents. According to reports, her camp in 2025 was her biggest group to date, with almost 200 kids participating, and registrations filling up very quickly. 

Azzi Fudd, who was once a part of NBA star Steph Curry’s training camp herself, has today established herself enough to have several children learn from and under her. This was a project she began during her time in school, and it has blossomed into something much bigger and more impactful. 

The response to her camp, with hundreds of kids signing up, really shows the connection she shares with the fans. It is also indicative of her prowess on the hardwood court, which she proved recently by breaking Arike Ogunbowale’s record.
