Belgian tennis player Kim Clijsters has been on Tour for two decades. During her long illustrious career, she has enjoyed rivalries with some of the great players like compatriot Justine Henin and with the William sisters too. She has won Grand Slam titles in singles as well as doubles too.

Recently, Clijsters posted a picture of herself training to get back in shape as she is soon to return on Tour. She will be playing against America’s Sloane Stephens at the WTA Atlanta Open, beginning on 24th July onwards.

Kim Clijsters to play her first match of the season

The former World No. 1 tweeted, Tough session !! … and now time for recovery Back on court this weekend in Atlanta — excited to play Sloane!” This comes as positive news as the Belgian has been out of action since last season. During her career, Kim has come out of retirement on more than an occasion.

Speaking on Kim’s career, she has enjoyed tremendous success, winning five Grand Slam titles. She has won the US Open on three counts and the Australian Open twice. She has held the top spot in rankings in both singles and doubles. The Belgian has also won the French Open and Wimbledon Championships, although in the doubles category.

Reflecting on her latest comeback, Clijsters came back on Tour after a period of eight years. She made a return in 2020 at the US Open. Coincidentally, she will be resuming her season when the tennis tournaments shift towards the North American region. 

It will be great to have a legend return on the courts. All eyes will be on her with fans eager to see how she performs in the upcoming event.
