Luis Enrique, the Barcelona boss, has expressed his desire for Pedro to stay with the Catalans and revealed that the player has not expressed his desire to leave.
The Spanish International has recently been linked with a move to Manchester United after his release clause was lowered from a staggering £107million to £22million. However, the former Roma and Celta Vigo boss insisted that he wants the two times treble winning forward to continue at the Nou Camp.
“Pedro is a high-level player and as a coach I want him to stay here, but it is his decision,” said Luis Enrique.
“There will only be exits if someone wants to leave and at the moment we don’t have news about this.”
Earlier, Manchester United’s manager Louis van Gaal had admitted his desire to sign on the Barcelona forward and stating that Pedro’s skills are exactly what his squad needs currently.
Talking to The Sun(via goal.com), Van Gaal said, “Barcelona have the speed of Neymar and [Lionel] Messi — and they have Pedro behind them. We have to compete with that,”.
“We can win the title if we can buy players with speed and creativity. We have to improve our selection in that way.”
The 28-year-old attacker is a one-club man having made his first-team debut for Barca in January 2008, and holds one of the most impressive track records in the world of football with honors like two trebles, a sextuple, a World Cup and a Euro Cup in his li but is undecided on his future having played a supportive role to Messi, Neymar and Suarez during the 2014-15 campaign.
