Kevin Durant might not play for the Brooklyn Nets next season. According to renowned NBA insider Shams Charania, KD might ask for a trade if his teammate Kyrie Irving leaves. However, according to another renowned NBA insider, Adrian Wojnarowski, that won’t be the case irrespective of what Irving decides to do.

After another season full of disappointments, the Brooklyn Nets find themselves in a rather uneasy position. Ever since acquiring Kyrie and KD in the summer of 2019, things haven’t gone so well for the Nets. The dynamic duo has only played 44 games together in a span of three seasons. Meanwhile, the trade to bring James Harden to Brooklyn backfired massively as he was shipped off to the Philadelphia 76ers after playing just 80 games for the Nets.

The Brooklyn Nets‘ best finish since acquiring Durant has been a seven-game series loss against the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2021 Eastern Conference Semi-finals. It won’t be surprising to see KD requesting a trade as his chances for a championship are getting lower.

Kevin Durant might request a trade

While KD has been brilliant for the Nets since signing, he has been out injured a lot. He missed the 2019-20 season completely as he was recovering from an Achilles injury. The Nets then traded for James Harden and they were expected to win the title in 2020-21. Brooklyn was knocked out by the eventual champions, Milwaukee Bucks in the Semi-finals.
