Brooklyn Nets GM Quashes Kyrie Irving Trade Rumors as Renewal Seems Imminent

Brooklyn Nets Guards Kyrie Irving and James Harden will become free agents at the end of the 2021-22 NBA Season. As of now, the Big 3 of the Brooklyn Nets have only played together in 13 games. In those games, they have won 10 and lost 3 of them. Despite such a short span of time together, the team still managed to make the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals.
One can only imagine how lethal this trio could be if they are healthy throughout the season. So it is important for the Brooklyn Nets to lock down both Harden and Irving to longer contracts. And as per Brooklyn Nets’ GM Sean Marks, the conversations so far with the players about this have been “positive.”

According to the Athletic’s Alex Schiffer, Marks just needs a little more time to finalize the talks of their extensions. In a conversation with Alex, Marks said “We’ve had very positive conversations with both those guys, and whether it’s family members, people and so forth, I think it always helps to do these things in person.”
Then he further added, “With this being summer, we’re very cognizant of letting people have their own time away before we all get back into the swing of things here. We’re looking forward to sitting down with them over the course of the next week, two weeks, and furthering those discussions.” Therefore, the GM has shown some confidence that they will extend the contracts of Irving and Harden.
