Despite all the difficulties thrown their way, Brooklyn Nets have secured their place at the top of the Eastern Conference. With two straight wins, the team has already gained momentum. Impressively, the team has done so without Kyrie Irving and also Kevin Durant on some occasions.
When the season started, James Harden, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving were supposed to come together and lead the team. However, Irving was sidelined the whole time, and even Durant had significant time off the court. Harden led the team on many occasions, recently impressing with a 39-point performance against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Having said that, the Nets season might just get better.

Are Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant coming back?
According to recent reports, Durant, Irving, and LaMarcus Aldridge have all cleared NBA’s extensive health and safety protocols.
Irving’s return might create the expected buzz, especially as this could guarantee his time on the court for the first time this year. However, that might not be until the team faces the Indiana Pacers next year. Irving has been brought back by the team for games outside of New York and Toronto, as he cannot play home games.

“We arrived at this decision with the full support of our players and after careful consideration of our current circumstances, including players missing games due to injuries and health and safety protocols,” general manager Sean Marks said about Irving returning. “We believe that the addition of Kyrie will not only make us a better team but allow us to more optimally balance the physical demand on the entire roster.
Unfortunately, Irving’s absence was not the only difficulty. With increasing health and safety protocols levels, the team had Aldridge and Durant out for a few games, even postponing three. Durant was sidelined after December 16, while Aldridge has been off the court since December 12.

How will their return help the Nets?
Durant’s return will be significant for the Nets, who need the NBA’s leading scorer (29.7 PPG). On his end, Aldridge will provide additional support off the bench.
Coach Steve Nash also spoke of Irving coming back, admitting that the NBA icon will need to be evaluated before playing with the team again. Irving returning could do wonders for the team, which is currently relying completely on Harden to win.

Of course, fans remain excited for the big three reuniting on the course. With a good record during the season and the three of them on the court, the team can easily make their way towards the NBA finals.
That being said, the team will play the Philadelphia 76ers next on December 30 EST.
