Celtics’ Jayson Tatum Reveals the Best and Worst of Being Inside the Orlando Bubble

The NBA smoothly resumed the seedings games and we saw a tremendous matchup between the Jazz and the Pelicans to kick things off inside the Orlando bubble. Since the league is back, the Inside guys are back too! In the latest episode of ‘Inside the NBA,’ Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum joined the guys in the studio for a quick chat about his experience in the NBA bubble. 

As soon as Tatum joined the call, Charles Barkley directed a quick question, asking the 22-year-old the best and worst thing about the bubble. Upon hearing the question, Tatum did not think long to reveal the best thing about life inside the bubble.

“The best thing is I mean we back playing basketball,Tatum said. “So many of us missed that so much. The world missed it all and the fans. So just even getting back in the gym with the teammates and practicing has been fun.”

Getting back to the grind after almost five-months will certainly be a joyous experience for the players. The NBA organizing such a grand restart with so many safety protocols, yet with excellent facilities, should be applauded. But, what is the thing that irks Tatum about being in the bubble?

Since the league is restarting amid a global pandemic, several rules had to be laid down. The NBA is one of the major leagues that has been functioning smoothly ever since the teams arrived at the Disney World Resort campus. However, players face a major downside in a particular aspect when it comes to competing for the championship inside a closed bubble. 

Jayson Tatum hates the fact that he has to play from inside a closed environment where families aren’t allowed for the time being. Here’s what Tatum had to say on the worst thing about being part of the bubble:

“The worst part…I think for me it’s just not being able to see my son, you know being away from your family. I know everybody got kids and a girlfriend or a wife and things like that. So just having to be away from the family for so long. It’s probably the toughest part,” Tatum said.

Tatum became a father in 2018, when he was blessed with a baby boy. Tatum’s love for his two-year-old son Jayson Tatum Jr., made him bring children’s books inside the bubble. The Celtics player posted a photo of him reading a book to his son via FaceTime recently.
