Charles Barkley forever remains an NBA legend for his successful career with the Phoenix Suns and Philadelphia 76ers. However, few NBA fans know that Barkley even played for the Houston Rockets once in his career. And he was himself in a super team before it’s time. He played on the same roster as Hakeem Olajuwon, Scottie Pippen, and Clyde Drexler. If that is not a super team when in their primes, then it’s unclear what a super team even is in the first place.

Nevertheless, Barkley never won an NBA championship, even with such a star-studded lineup. However, when he got confronted about this, he had some hilarious but brutal statements about his circumstances.

In his latest appearance on House of Highlights’ The Reel, Barkley had some rather harsh comments about his run with the Houston Rockets.

When Kenny Smith started pulling Barkley’s leg about not winning an NBA Championship, Barkley had a response ready instantly. So Barkley knew why despite being on the same team as Julius Erving, Moses Malone, Hakeem Olajuwon, Clyde Drexler and Scottie Pippen, he never won a championship.

He hilariously said, “Every guy I played with was 102 years old.”

While it is understandable that Barkley would not give any credit to Pippen, but Olajuwon and Drexler had come right off winning a championship. Therefore, they were arguably in the primes of their career when Drexler joined them. While Barkley joked about the fact that Pippen did not bring Jordan with him, Jordan was arguably the reason Barkley did not have a championship. Even though Pippen did not even last a full season at the Rockets, Barkley still took a jab at him in his response.

Was Barkley right in blaming his co-stars for his failure to win a ring?

While Barkley conveniently says that his co-stars were “102 years old” so they were not so great, he refuses to acknowledge his own shortcomings. While Barkley could concede to the fact that Michael Jordan was better than him even in his MVP season, he still didn’t do so when it came to admitting why he never won a championship. Moreover, Olajuwon was still an All-star for two seasons after Barkley and he joined forces in 1996.

So it is kind of unfair that Barkley conveniently blamed the age of his teammates while it may have been him who was the problem.
