Hornets’ Kelly Oubre Jr. on Michael Jordan as GM: “Come on, You Know Better Than That Sh*t”

It’s not just Michael Jordan’s scoring output and championship success that made him an NBA legend. It was also his mentality that was so incredible that it has inspired multiple generations of NBA basketball. And even today, Michael Jordan brings that mentality to his work as the owner of the Charlotte Hornets.

Therefore, since he is a former NBA player, his role as an executive is not limited to off the court actions. Phil Jackson’s guidance was arguably the refining source of his approach to basketball. Jackson taught Jordan about the importance of trusting his teammates and colleagues. And now as a General Manager, he brings the same approach while giving advice to his players.

Kelly Oubre Jr, the former Warriors guard who the Hornets signed in free agency is already observing the difference that Michael Jordan makes. He recently revealed what Michael Jordan expects out of him and his teammates and how he treats them for it.

Kelly Oubre Jr reveals how Michael Jordan is still like he was as a player

As Charlotte Hornets were getting set to face the Oubre’s former team, Oubre took out a few minutes to talk to the reporters between practice. While talking to Duane Rankin of Arizona (AZ) Central, Oubre spoke about Michael Jordan. He said, “He’s the greatest competitor of all time. So whenever he’s around, he pushes me, he pushes us as a group. He has that, ‘Come on man, you know better than that sh*t’. But he talks to you like a player, like a peer, instead of a boss or owner.”

Instead of telling them what to exactly do, Jordan has rather transitioned into a more leadership approach where he trusts his players to make the right decision for themselves. However mad those decisions make him is a different question. But the fact that he trusts his players will help them boost their confidence to maximize their potential.
