Damian Lillard Opens Up on His Strong Relation with Rapper Lil Wayne

To those who don’t know, Portland Trail Blazers icon Damian Lillard does a little more than play basketball. Lillard also has his own thriving music career. The NBA star started it with his first full-length single ‘Soldier in the Game’, after which he has continued to release multiple albums.

His music has represented countless issues and topics over the years, even paying tribute to various legends like Kobe Bryant, Tupac Shakur, and Michael Jordan. Of course, it means that Lillard has gained a few supporters along the way.

In a conversation with Complex News’ Pierce Simpson, Lillard speaks of one such bond he has with rapper Lil Wayne.

It’s clear that Dame Lillard clearly feels supported by the Louisiana rapper and he expanded on his relationship with the hit-making artist.

“We communicate pretty often,” Lillard said, explaining how the two of them share a solid relationship. “I mean, he did the performance that all started with me you know. I was like, he even mentioned it to me like I’m not, I don’t got to do this. I came here to mess with you. To support you. I think that shows the kind of relationship that we’ve developed”.

Earlier, he released the album ‘Different On Levels The Lord Allowed’, which featured Lil Wayne and Snoop Dogg. He admitted that this is possibly his favorite work till now.

Lillard’s musical journey has been going well and fans have gotten a chance to see another side of his personality. As a basketball player, Lillard hopes to also be known for his music one day.

Wayne has also often complimented Lillard. He believes that if Lillard only starts to rap, he will make money out of it. “He’d do awesome,” Lil Wayne said while speaking to The Undefeated. “I think he’d do well. Dame is Dame off the court as well in the music game”.

The 31-year-old has recently also addressed trade questions, stating how he is not leaving. At least not yet. The Trail Blazers, led by Lillard himself, is yet to win a title. Rumors about Lillard playing for another team have been around for a while now, often shut down by the Trail Blazers icon himself.
