Four-time NBA champion LeBron James is one of the greatest players of the game. Many, including his fans, feel he is the GOAT of basketball. However, the GOAT debate is a never-ending argument, and it just goes on. LeBron and LA Lakers crashed out of the NBA playoffs in the first round itself. But LeBron missed many games last season due to injuries and so did Anthony Davis. But now many feel that Kevin Durant has dethroned LeBron as the best player in the NBA.

Kevin Durant has been constantly compared to LeBron since the Cleveland and Warriors rivalry started a few years back. Durant established himself as one of the league’s best players at Golden State Warriors, where he won two NBA championships. LeBron James’ former teammate at Cleveland Cavaliers, Kendrick Perkins feels that Kevin Durant is the best player in the world.

Kendrick Perkins feels Kevin Durant is the best player in the world ahead of LeBron James

Kendrick Perkins has played alongside both LeBron James and Kevin Durant in his career. However, he feels Durant is the best player over LeBron. Perkins recently told Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson of Bally Sports that he doesn’t ‘really know if LeBron even cares about being the best’ in the world.

“Here’s the thing, Kevin Durant is the best player in the world, and it’s about damn time somebody dethrone King James from being the best player in the world. We’re talking about a guy that’s going on Year 19,” Kendrick Perkins told Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson on Bally Sports.

“I don’t really know if LeBron James even cares about being the best player in the world anymore, going on at the age of 37, right? So, it’s about time that somebody finally stepped up to the plate and dethrone him because he’s been carrying the torch for so long.”

Since 2006, LeBron has featured in the playoffs every season, except for 2019. The Lakers failed to reach the playoffs in the 2018-19 season. However, they strengthened their roster the next season and won their 17th NBA title. But the Lakers failed to replicate the same results last season.

Kevin Durant won two back-to-back championships with the Warriors. He joined the Nets in 2019 but didn’t play the entire season. Last season Durant’s Nets crashed out of the playoffs in the second round by losing against eventual champions Milwaukee Bucks.
