Back in October, the Chicago Bulls shared some unfortunate news with the fans. As per the team, Patrick Williams was going to miss months of NBA. Now, with the 2021-22 season halfway through, the Bulls tried to request the NBA for a disabled player exception.

According to recent reports, the league seems to have refused the Bulls. Irrespective of the explanation produced by the league, fans remained enraged over the decision.

Chicago Bulls fans unhappy over NBA’s Patrick Williams decision

The NBA rule actually allows the teams to spend some more money. It allows them more moving room, courtesy of the disabled player exception. The Athletic and The Stadium’s Shams Charania recently announced that the league ended up rejecting the team’s request.

They put one in for Patrick Williams, who has been sidelined because of the torn ligament in his left wrist. As per the NBA, disabled players get this exception as “the disabling injury or illness must make it substantially more likely than not, in the judgment of an NBA-appointed physician, that the disabled player would be unable to play through the following June 15”. That is if they apply for hit through January 15.

What one can hope for is Williams to return soon, the forward scoring 6.6 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. He was the team’s Round 1 No. 4 pick during the 2020 NBA Draft.

Following the announcement, the Bulls fans were upset. Some responses were a direct dig at LeBron James, who they thought the league is biased to. Others just spoke of the league hating their team, not comparing themselves to anyone else. While certain users narrowed down on James, some just mentioned the Los Angeles Lakers being favored.

The Bulls are having a good season, ranking second in the Eastern Conference with a 21-10 win-loss record. After their 130-118 loss against the Atlanta Hawks, the team will face them again on December 30, 6:30 AM IST.
