San Antonio Spurs missed the playoffs in the past two seasons and are in danger of losing out again this season. However, they had their fair share of positives from the past 2 seasons. Tim Duncan received his first win as an acting coach with the Spurs during the 2019-20 season. Despite that, he received heavy criticism from LeBron James’ former teammate, Richard Jefferson.

Tim Duncan has been one of the best players in the game’s history. The ‘Big Fundamental’ won five championships with the Spurs in his 19-year long career. After his retirement, he became the assistant coach of the Spurs in 2019. Tim Duncan’s best moment as a coach came in March 2020, when he got the opportunity to coach his team to a victory for the first time.

Duncan came in as the acting head coach for the Spurs as they won 104-103 against the Hornets. While he received praise from everyone. LeBron James’ former teammate Richard Jefferson jokingly disrespected him. After hearing this, Jay Williams, who was in appearance, walked off the set.

LeBron James’ former teammate Richard Jefferson disrespects Tim Duncan, Jay Williams storms off the set

Tim Duncan’s first win as a coach didn’t impress Richard Jefferson a bit. Jefferson, instead, jokingly disrespected Duncan and slammed his playing career. Jefferson said that Tim has been carried by players in his career. After his take, former Bulls star Jay Williams left the show.

“Tim Duncan has been carried by people his entire life, except his hairdresser,” Richard Jefferson said. “Tim Duncan has been giving credit for so many things that he hadn’t done. Even tonight, this is his first win. He didn’t do anything. This was Will, this was Becky Hammon. He said, he just stood up and was running his mouth and good things happened.”

“He’s been carried by Pop, Tony, Manu, Bruce Bowen, and now here he gets his first coaching win. He did nothing. He is a waste of a player, a waste of time. Honestly, he’s the reason why the Spurs are struggling this year.”

Tim Duncan is one of the most underrated players in NBA history. He is known for his longevity and loyalty to the Spurs. Tim stayed with the Spurs through thick and thin and helped them in winning five NBA championships. Moreover, after his retirement, he chose to start his coaching career with the Spurs.

However, Tim’s coaching career was short-lived as he stepped down from the assistant coach position in November 2020.
