Simmons had a disastrous playoff campaign last season. The Sixers crashed out of the Eastern Conference playoffs after losing against Atlanta Hawks. The Sixers staff and players criticized Simmons after his dismal outing against the Hawks. Due to this, Simmons decided not to play again for the Sixers despite having four more years on his contract.
