“He Was A Storyteller”: Instagram Account of Kobe Bryant Drops in a New Update

Following his retirement in 2016, Kobe Bryant bid farewell to an illustrious career with the Los Angeles Lakers. However, his desire to keep winning in life never came to a halt. In proof of that, the Instagram account of Kobe Bryant posted a new photo, updating fans about the release of his new book titled, ‘Geese Are Never Swans.’
After retiring from the NBA, Kobe explored his talents in writing children’s books and poems. Kobe won an Academy Award for an animated short film titled, ‘Dear Basketball,’ an emotional letter which he originally penned when he initially announced his retirement from basketball.
For the past three years, Kobe wanted to bring out and educate people on the mental struggles that young athletes go through and the process of overcoming them. As a tribute to the demised Mamba, the book was released through his IG account on Tuesday, with an explanatory caption on what ‘Geese Are Never Swans’ is about.

“The novel focuses on the importance of mental health amongst young athletes and how sports can help overcome some of life’s greatest setbacks,” the caption reads.
Co-Author Eva Clark on the storytelling attribute of Kobe Bryant
Psychologist Eva Clark co-authored Kobe’s new book. She had a few words to share about her experience of working alongside the Mamba in creating the book.
“Kobe had that spark, he was a storyteller,” Clark told PEOPLE. “He was so dedicated to understanding stories: ‘What’s our responsibility? How do you tell it to the people in need?’”

The new book will be the fifth in the collection of Kobe’s authorship. It narrates the journey of a young swimmer named Gus, who has his sights set on making the Olympics. The book will detail the challenges the youngster has to face in order to reach his desired goal.
“Kobe was very interested in showing this athlete that had this extreme drive stemming from trauma that’s [unfortunately] celebrated by people as successful,” Clark said. “But they’re not in touch with their trauma, which is why they’re so angry.”

Kobe Bryant through this book will teach aspiring athletes how to deal with the mental trauma. Retirement from the NBA opened up a new avenue that made him passionate about educating youngsters about handling mental health.
The book has a blue hardcover carrying a swimmer’s silhouette. It will certainly inspire young kids and athletes. Most importantly helping them to overcome the early mental hurdles that they might face in their careers when marching towards greatness.
