Brooklyn Nets registered their 27th win of the season as they beat the New Orleans Pelicans at home. James Harden and Patty Mills led the scoring charts for the Nets as they won 120-105. However, despite an important win, the Nets will be worried as Kevin Durant got injured during the game.
Kevin Durant started for the Nets vs the Pelicans and was on 12 points in 12 mins. The Nets led the Pelicans 69-41 at half-time and Durant left the court limping. The Nets then announced that Durant will be out for the whole game due to a left knee sprain. Durant ended the game with 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.
However, the Nets held on to their lead and managed to win the game without Durant. James Harden scored a game-high 27 points and Cameron Thomas stepped up off the bench to score 20 points in 35 mins. Now, Harden has come up with some reassurance after Durant’s injury.

Brooklyn Nets didn’t take any risks and decided to rest Durant for the remainder of the game. It appeared that he bumped knees in his last play and then limped off to the locker room. Durant currently boasts the best points per game this season with 29.3. He is ahead of LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Stephen Curry on the list.
Durant is one of the top contenders for this season’s MVP alongside Stephen Curry, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, among others. A long-term injury could erase his hopes of winning his 2nd MVP award.

There’s no update on Durant’s injury, but according to reports, he is set to get an MRI scan on his left knee. In just 10 days’ time, the Nets face LeBron James and the Lakers. If Durant fails to recover in time for that fixture, it would be 4 years without a Durant vs LeBron matchup.
