Los Angeles Lakers have assembled a ‘super team’ for the coming NBA season. The 17-time NBA champions have added many quality players to their roster such as Carmelo Anthony, Russell Westbrook, and Dwight Howard. Their roster already looks like the favorites to win the championship, with LeBron James and Anthony Davis already on their side.

The Lakers have been a better team with LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the court. The duo helped the franchise win their 17the title in 2020. But the team struggled last season when, LeBron and AD, were struggling with injuries.

The Lakers have preferred to play with the duo in the frontcourt without a center in the past seasons. Davis has also shown everyone that he prefers the frontcourt. However, according to reports, with the signing of DeAndre Jordan, LeBron and AD could play four and five in the coming season.

NBA analyst Jalen Rose has recently opened up on the reports about LeBron and AD changing their positions. It has been reported that LeBron and Davis’ agent has informed the franchise that the duo will play at four and five this season. Jalen Rose said on ‘Jalen & Jacoby‘ that LeBron’s position is not going to change, but AD will have to play five in the coming season.

“This is mental manipulation truthfully because a guy like AD, he would prefer to play the four,” Jalen said on Jalen & Jacoby.

“Because you don’t necessarily want to take that pounding consistently going against Joel Embiid or the Joker on a nightly basis. So, therefore, if you look at the composition of the Lakers roster, the last few years they brought back everybody,” he added.

“Now they have DeAndre Jordan to play some of those minutes. But ultimately when they’re at their best is going to be AD at the five. LeBron position ain’t changing, so that’s just a footnote. The change is AD. We need you to play five and we need you to own it.”

If Anthony Davis starts playing as a center for the new season, it would mean that the other centers will get very few minutes. The likes of Dwight Howard and DeAndre Jordan will remain as backups. But it’ll be interesting to see who will back up Anthony Davis in that case, leading to fewer minutes for the other.
