Former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins has a tendency of making comparisons while commenting on a player’s performance. While that may be a rational thing to do as an analyst, the nature of the comparison becomes questionable at times. This time, Boston Celtics All-Star Jayson Tatum was not pleased with what Perkins said and the former decided to respond to it.

While praising Jaylen Brown for his impressive performance against the Knicks, Perkins took a shot at Tatum. This is how Jayson Tatum responded to that tweet with a rather positive message.

Jayson Tatum silences Perkins’ criticism with a positive message

After Perkins tweeted about Brown’s performance, Tatum responded to his tweet. He said, “Normalizing uplifting one man without bringing down the other.. JB played great, it’s alright to leave it at that.” This is a rather mature response from Tatum, considering it is a rising trend to see Perkins drop hot takes as tweets and write “Carry On..”

It has become an increasing trend where analysts and experts are bringing up comparisons that are arguably driven solely by certain motivations. Like Skip Bayless, who has a tendency to make comments about LeBron James in his tweets.

One can merely assume as to why these comments about a particular player are made. It may be driven by personal reasons but it certainly adds an unnecessarily negative angle to a spirited competition.

And he followed that by “Still got the win tho!” as if a 42.8% field goal percentage is a bad thing. Had it been a fan or a spectator, some professionalism may not be expected. However, coming from a professional, let alone a former Celtics player seems a little too out of place.

Nevertheless, the Celtics clinched a victory in a rematch over the Knicks. When these two sides faced each other, the Celtics lost the game on a buzzer-beater by RJ Barrett. So this was a statement response by the Celtics who lost a 25 point lead last game.
