Joel Embiid Gets Brutally Honest on Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson Trade Rumors

Three-time NBA champion Philadelphia 76ers will start their pre-season campaign from October 3. They will face Toronto Raptors Toronto in their first game of the pre-season. The Sixers’ regular-season starts from October 20, when they travel to New Orleans to face the Pelicans. Today, the Sixers held their media day at their training complex.

As the media day started, everyone was looking for an update on the Ben Simmons situation. There were a lot of questions that were asked related to the trade saga. However, everyone’s reply was similar, as they don’t want Ben Simmons to leave the Philadelphia 76ers.

Sixers center Joel Embiid said that he wants Simmons to stay as the player has been a part of what the franchise has been building for years. During the press conference, Embiid also said that everyone needs to handle trade rumors professionally.

Joel Embiid talks about Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson trade rumors

Joel talked covered several topics during the Sixers’ media day press conference. He talked about the Ben Simmons trade saga and the fans. He also said that the Sixers would probably agree to trade him if Stephen Curry was involved in the deal.

“If Golden State came and offered Steph and Klay for me, wouldn’t the Sixers say yes to that? I would probably say yes to that [if I was them],” Joel Embiid said during the press conference.

That would be a lucrative trade deal, but everyone knows it’s close to impossible. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are important to the Warriors‘ project. The ‘Splash Brothers’ could be the deciding factor for this season for the Warriors if they manage to win the championship. The duo is basically untouchable in the NBA.

But we get where Embiid is coming from. The Ben Simmons trade is one of the most talked points in the NBA circles. Embiid wants Ben to stay, but he also wants everyone to handle the rumors professionally.

Four-time NBA All-Star Embiid battled through an injury during the 2020-21 post-season. He tore his meniscus last season, but he has recovered well and looks good for the new season. The Sixers have signed six players during the off-season and it’ll be interesting to see how they perform in the coming season.
