DeRozan, who scored 38 points against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, is not the first player in the NBA to drop 35 points while shooting over 50% from the field for seven back-to-back games. The previous streak belonged to Chamberlain, who did it for six games in a row back in the 60s.

His efforts seem to be recognized by all, including Durant. The MVP talks are only a bonus to DeRozan’s already impressive season. He is currently scoring 28.1 points per game while shooting 51.7% from the field. Now, while DeRozan might not actually take home the MVP honor, he certainly deserves to be in the mix.

That being said, Joel Embiid, Stephen Curry, Nikola Jokic, and Ja Morant are a few other players already in the mix.

When is Durant coming back?

Sadly for Durant’s fans, it might be some more time before the 33-year-old returns to the court. Courtesy of his sprained MCL, Durant has been sidelined since the team’s 120-105 win against the New Orleans Pelicans in January. However, recent reports suggest that Durant can make a return following the All-Star break.

While it is a possibility, the Nets look determined to be patient with Durant’s recovery and might not give in to the risk.
