Los Angeles Lakers have had a disappointing start to their 2021-22 NBA campaign as they lost their opening game against the Warriors. The Lakers assembled a super team during the off-season and had a massive roster overhaul. They added quality to their roster by signing Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, DeAndre Jordan, among others.

However, despite that, they’ve failed to win a single game this month. LeBron James and Anthony Davis looked fresh in the first game and combined for 67 points against the Warriors. But the talk of the town was Russell Westbrook, as he scored just 8 points despite starting and playing 35 mins. Westbrook failed to make his mark during the preseason as well.

Many expected Westbrook to settle in at the Lakers and form a deadly trio alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. However, it has been all about LeBron and Davis so far as Westbrook is struggling to adapt to the Lakers style of play. Russ didn’t look comfortable alongside the LeBron-Davis duo in the last game.

Earlier, wherever Westbrook played, the team was either built around him or he was among one of the two main players there. But that is not the case in LA. Frank Vogel’s game revolves around James and Davis. In fact, playing alongside James could be one of his biggest challenges.
