The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Brooklyn Nets 122-115 at home, which is their fifth defeat in a row. LeBron James was the shining star for the Lakers on a dark night when they failed to win for more than a week. However, the Lakers showed some glimpses as they bounced back from being down by 20 points in the 3rd quarter.

Their last win remains their overtime victory over Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center. However, since then, their season has gone downhill due to consecutive losses and injuries. James scored 39 points against the Nets, but it wasn’t enough to bail the team out.

“Melo (Carmelo Anthony) brought us all together and said, ‘Listen we need to go and show some character’. In the fourth quarter, I think when they went up 23 and we all responded and we responded with a flurry. We just weren’t able to get over the hump.”

The Lakers struggled to score in the first half as their starters didn’t click together. If you look at the numbers, LeBron had more points than all the starters combined. Carmelo Anthony and Malik Monk, who came off the bench, had more than any non-LeBron starter against the Nets.
