LeBron James and Kobe Bryant are among the greatest players in the NBA. While Kobe Bryant won five championships, all with the Lakers, LeBron has won four with 3 different franchises. Everyone admired Kobe Bryant for his work ethic and loyalty. LeBron, however, is known for his ‘never give up’ attitude and longevity.

Kobe and LeBron always admired each other. They couldn’t play alongside each other in the NBA, but, they did represent the USA in the 2008 Olympics. They weren’t the closest of friends off the court, but they had a lot of respect for each other. In fact, LeBron has admitted several times that he has learned a lot from Kobe.

Now a Laker, LeBron has realized the impact of Kobe on the join-most successful franchise. In an old interview, LeBron commented on Kobe’s insane work ethic.

LeBron James talks about Kobe Bryant’s work ethic in an old interview

LeBron and Kobe have faced each other on several occasions. LeBron has a 16-6 record over Kobe Bryant in the NBA. In an old interview during the 2015-16 season, James admitted that Kobe acted as a motivation to work hard. He also talked about Kobe’s insane work ethic back then.

“I knew I had to be better because of Kobe Bryant,” James said during the 15-16 season.

“I knew he was in the gym and I knew he was working on his game. So every day that I didn’t want to work out or every day I felt like I couldn’t give more, I always thought of Kobe. Because I knew that he was getting better and I was like, ‘Man, if you take a day off, he’s going to take advantage of it.'”

For many years, Kobe and LeBron played as rivals in the NBA. However, they weren’t exactly rivals off the court, neither were they very close. But LeBron learned a lot from Kobe over the years. Now, LeBron is carrying Kobe’s legacy as the Lakers fight for their 18th championship.

However, during his last days, Kobe didn’t have a fighting squad and he would still be furious at his teammates for not performing. The Lakers now have a monstrous roster and have been struggling to maintain a winning% of .500. Imagine how Kobe would have reacted to this situation.
