Marc Cuban Takes a Sarcastic Dig at Jared Dudley to Welcome Him to Dallas Mavericks

Dallas Mavericks have appointed their former star Jason Kidd as the new head coach for the new season. Dallas’ only NBA-winning coach Rick Carlisle stepped down as their coach last month with two years remaining on his contract. He has joined Indiana Pacers as their new head coach. The Mavericks under owner Mark Cuban have also appointed a new assistant coach for the new season, Jared Dudley.

Jared Dudley officially announced on Twitter that he is taking up the coaching role at the Dallas Mavericks from now on. This means his professional playing career comes to an end.

Dudley thanked his former team, Los Angeles Lakers, and their players – LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Jeanie Buss in a tweet. However, Mark Cuban has quoted Dudley’s tweet and joked on his profile picture.

Mark Cuban quoted Jared Dudley’s tweet and joked about his current profile picture, which still shows him in a Lakers jersey. Dudley hasn’t changed his profile picture yet, in which he’s wearing Lakers number 10 jersey.

Rick Carlisle helped Mavericks in winning their only NBA championship. He was the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks for 13 years. His departure means that Jason Kidd and Jared Dudley will have to step up and deliver. Dudley won’t find it hard to settle into the coaching role under Kidd as he has played under Kidd at the Lakers. Jason Kidd was the assistant coach of the Los Angeles Lakers for two seasons and helped the team lift their 17th NBA championship.

Dudley was the 22nd overall pick of Charlotte Bobcats, now Charlotte Hornets, in the 2007 NBA draft. After spending a season in Charlotte, Dudley was traded to Phoenix Suns. He spent five seasons with the Suns and helped them reach the playoffs in 2010. The 2010 playoffs were Dudley’s best in his career as he averaged 7.6 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 1.8 APG, and .4 BPG.

Dudley spent one season each at Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Washington Wizards before re-joining the Suns for two seasons. After spending a season with the Brooklyn Nets, Dudley joined the Lakers and won his first championship. He has now taken up the coaching role and it will be interesting to see how he fares alongside Kidd this season.
