Metta World Peace on Dennis Rodman: ‘The Way He Guarded Michael Jordan Jordan and Scottie Pippen, I Was Like, Wow This Guy Might Be a Better Wing Defender Than Me’

When you talk about one of the best defenders in the history of the game, Dennis Rodman is one of the names that immediately come to mind. Rodman is famous for his defensive displays against the iconic duo of Michael Jordan and Pippen during the early 1990s.

A surprising fact is that Rodman played more on the offense than on the defense. He had an incredible passing and rebounding ability.

In fact, he once had 49 rebounds over a span of 2 games. He himself admitted once that he ‘loves defense and rebounding‘. Metta World Peace is among the latest NBA legends to acknowledge Rodman’s greatness on the defense.

In a recent podcast, Peace admitted that Rodman was one of the best wing defenders.

Metta World Peace calls Rodman as one of the best defenders for guarding Michael Jordan

Former NBA star Metta World Peace recently appeared on the ‘Draymond Green Show‘ and talked about Rodman’s abilities. Peace, who himself is a Defensive Player of the Year winner, discussed Rodman’s defensive displays against the former Bulls duo of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen.

“I think Dennis Rodman’s probably the best wing defender that we’ve seen. You got to go watch his take, and I was looking at it and I’m only familiar with him from the power forward position. But the way he guarded Jordan and Pippen, I was just like, ‘oh wow, this guy might be a better wing defender than me’. I’ve never thought he was a better one, different than me,” Peace said.

Dennis Rodman spent the majority of his professional career with Detroit Pistons. He later signed with San Antonio Spurs and after two seasons, he signed with the Bulls. Rodman is primarily known for his performances with the Bulls during the franchise’s 2nd three-peat. However, at Bulls, he was mostly utilized as a power forward and not on the defense.
