The GOAT debate in sports is a never-ending one. However, few names such as Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Tom Brady, Lionel Messi always come up in such conversations among the circles. A prominent American media personality, Colin Cowherd, recently expressed his opinion that Jordan is the greatest athlete in the United States, ahead of the likes of LeBron and Kevin Durant, and gave his rationale behind it.
Ever since Tom Brady‘s retirement, there have been debates and arguments on social media as well as TV, regarding who is the best of all time. However, there are no specific criteria or statistics to judge these players. In the end, it’s down to everyone’s personal opinion.
The difference between the all-time greats and others is easily visible. The Herd’s host, Colin Cowherd, recently called MJ the greatest athlete in the United States. He also called out LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and James Harden for not being as loyal as His Airness.

During a recent episode of ‘The Herd with Colin Cowherd’, Colin talked about Michael Jordan and his popularity in the United States. He also said that the likes of LeBron, Durant, and Harden are for sale and have no loyalty.
“Nothing against LeBron and KD and James Harden, but they’re for sale. Their loyalty is the check. They have huge brands, they have each earned it. I have no animosity toward LeBron, Harden, and Kevin Durant,” Colin Cowherd said on ‘The Herd‘.

Colin then went on to express his rationale as to why Jordan was better than the rest. He praised MJ’s loyalty to the Chicago-based franchise despite being underpaid. Colin also compared Jordan’s situation with the common people.

“Michael was loyal, fiercely loyal to Chicago, and an owner that underpaid him for his entire stay…..Michael fought through adversity and that lands with fans. Because maybe some of us out there are mobile and have opportunities, but most Americans don’t have a job. It’s really hard. You’re not paid what you should be and you just have to put your head down and move through it. You just got to mow through it.”
Jordan was a winner during his playing career and retired as a six-time champion. However, it wasn’t easy for him. But fans at that time acknowledged the efforts and hard work that he put into his 14-year-old NBA career.

MJ’s became popular worldwide during the 90s and played an important role in globalizing the game. That in turn reaped benefits for both himself and the NBA. He is now a billionaire, while the NBA is among the most popular sports leagues in the world.
