NBA Legend’s Son Flees Ukraine Amidst Rise in Global Tension

Global tensions are on the rise, with Europe being the most affected by the Ukraine crisis. NBA may be the biggest basketball event in the world, but not every player can make it to NBA. Some players miss out on the opportunity and try to make a career elsewhere, such as in Europe.
With global tensions rising, several international athletes in Ukraine are finding it hard to flee the country. As the situation is worsening in that region, several basketball and soccer stars from different countries are stuck. However, a former NBA star’s son has managed to flee Ukraine amidst the situation in the country.

Michael Stockton, son of former NBA star John Stockton, has recently managed to leave Ukraine. This is a huge sigh of relief for the Utah Jazz legend.

Michael Stockton, son of NBA legend John Stockton flees Ukraine
According to USA Today, John Stockton’s son Michael Stockton has managed to flee Ukraine. The report stated that Michael’s agent, Mike Main, has informed that Michael left Ukraine last week and reached his home in Spokane, Washington safely.

Last year, Michael joined the Ukrainian Basketball Super League side Budivelnyk for the 2021-22 season. However, he had to leave the country due to the crisis. Alongside Stockton, his teammate Archie Goodwin also left the country amidst the crisis. Archie, however, signed a new contract with an Israeli basketball side.

Michael Stockton went undrafted during the 2011 NBA draft and signed with a German Pro A League side. However, he did try his luck in the Summer League with Utah Jazz twice in 2012 and 2013, but couldn’t get an NBA contract. Since then, he has played in Germany, Greece, France, and Ukraine.

Michael’s father, John Stockton, had an illustrious NBA career spanning 19 years. John played for the Utah Jazz and was inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame in 2009. Alongside Michael, he has 3 sons, Houston, David, and Samuel. David Stockton is also a basketball player and currently plays in the G League.
