Los Angeles Lakers are struggling this season and are currently on .500. The Lakers had a busy off-season as they tried to revamp their roster. However, despite many additions, they’re struggling to cross the .500 mark this season. LeBron James has been their only shining star this season so far.

The Lakers had a massive roster overhaul during the summer as they cleared some spots to sign new players. However, the players have failed to perform this season and have instead added to the team’s woes. In fact, the Lakers’ departures during the summer are now playing well.

The likes of Russell Westbrook, DeAndre Jordan, and Dwight Howard have failed to settle in with 42 games played this season. With Anthony Davis injured, James has received little or no help from their veterans. Now, according to reports, the Lakers are looking to revamp their roster mid-season.

Los Angeles Lakers looking to trade Dwight Howard

According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the Lakers are looking at the idea of trading Dwight Howard. They have called on some teams to assess the trade value of the 17-year veteran.

“The Lakers have little trade flexibility, but that hasn’t stopped Los Angeles from exploring various potential deals,” Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer reported.

“Rob Pelinka’s front office has only Talen Horton-Tucker and Kendrick Nunn as non-minimum players with tangible trade value, and that combination won’t be nearly enough to land (Jerami) Grant or (Myles) Turner. But the Lakers have called rival teams to assess the trade value of DeAndre Jordan, Dwight Howard, and Kent Bazemore, sources said.”

Dwight Howard has played 32 games this season. He has recorded 5.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game this season. This is Howard’s third stint with the Lakers. He signed with the Lakers for the first time in 2012 and left for the Rockets after a season. Howard signed with the Lakers again in 2019 and won the first NBA championship of his career. However, he left the Lakers after that season for the Sixers.

The Lakers then again signed Howard to a veterans minimum contract in August. Now, the LA-based franchise is looking at the option of trading him during the season. However, there’s not much clarity over the teams interested in the trade.
