Los Angeles Lakers registered their 20th win of the season as they beat Sacramento Kings at home. It was a much-needed victory for the Lakers as they have struggled for consistency this season. Despite signing so many top players during the offseason, the Lakers are struggling and are in course for another upheaval.
The Lakers had a massive roster overhaul during the 2021 summer after a disappointing performance last season. They crashed out of the playoffs in the first round itself last season and needed quality players and depth to mount a proper championship challenge this season.

However, it hasn’t worked so far for the Lakers as they are 20-19 so far in the league. But with 39 games played, the Lakers are planning some massive changes to their roster. They recently traded Rajon Rondo to the Cavaliers in what has been touted as another roster upheaval.

Los Angeles Lakers looking to trade DeAndre Jordan and Kent Bazemore
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the Lakers are looking to clear two roster spots by moving DeAndre Jordan and Kent Bazemore. The Lakers have already cleared one roster spot by trading Rajon Rondo to the Cavaliers, which will reportedly be filled by Stanley Johnson.
“They already offloaded a player in Rondo to create a roster spot, and they are looking to do more of that,” Brian Windhorst said.
“From teams that I have talked to, they are out there, with LeBron starting at the center and eventually getting Anthony Davis back, they are looking to move DeAndre Jordan,” he added.
“Not necessarily for another player, but to move him so that they can open up a roster spot. Kent Bazemore is another player that they’ve been willing to talk about, talking to some other teams. I think their goal is to open up a roster spot.”

Anthony Davis‘ absence has allowed several players to get more minutes than before and they’re making the most of it. However, DeAndre Jordan and Kent Bazemore have been disappointing for the Lakers so far. Jordan is averaging 4.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 0.3 assists this season so far for the Lakers and has earned 18 starts. However, he has fallen down the pecking order and hasn’t managed a single appearance in the last 6 matches.

Kent Bazemore, on the other side, has averaged 4.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game so far this season. If the Lakers want, they could just waive the two. However, they would then have to pay their salaries and the taxes involved. So, trading them would be a better option to clear two roster spots.
