Los Angeles Lakers are going through a slump this season. Despite being one of the busiest franchises during the off-season, the Lakers are 9th in the conference table. However, the trade window has opened opportunities for them to add quality to their roster. According to reports, they’re willing to trade some of their key players to land a Raptors star, who was earlier reported to be Gary Trent Jr.

The Lakers built a monstrous roster during the summer to mount a championship challenge. However, that hasn’t worked out for them as they sit 9th in the Western Conference table. They are currently 25-28 in the league and have lost 6 of their last 10 fixtures. However, they have been looking at potential targets to acquire through trade before the trade deadline.

The trade deadline is on 10 February and the Lakers could reportedly get into negotiations with Toronto Raptors. According to Jake Fischer, the 17-time champions could offer some of their key players in exchange for a Raptors star.

Journalist Jake Fischer recently appeared in ‘The NBA Chats’ podcast with Alen Ramic. During the podcast, Fischer revealed that the Lakers are trying to offload some of their key players such as DeAndre Jordan, Dwight Howard, and Kent Bazemore.

“Listen, the Lakers are obviously not a great spot right now. And they’re looking. They’re trying. From DeAndre Jordan to Dwight Howard, to the Kent Bazemores of the world, to trying to see what this Talen Horton-Tucker, Kendrick Nunn, and first-round pick package can get,” Jake Fischer said on ‘The NBA Chats‘ podcast.

“You can move Kent Bazemore, but how much are you really getting back? You can move DeAndre Jordan, but what are you really getting back? Like, could they move DeAndre or Dwight to Charlotte, who needs another big man, or Toronto, who needs another big man.” [h/t silverscreenandroll.com]

The Lakers were linked with bringing Gary Trent Jr. to LA from the Raptors earlier last month. The rumors died last month itself, but now that they are offering some of their key players, they could negotiate with the Raptors for Gary.

Gary Trent Jr. was with the Blazers for three seasons and signed with the Raptors last season. He has made 42 appearances for the Raptors this season and averaged 18.1 points per game. Gary is a regular starter for the Raptors and could fit in with the Lakers. It’ll be interesting to see what happens in the next few days as the Lakers continue to scan the market.
