While the 17-time champions were one of the busiest teams in the off-season, the Clippers were still trying to find a solution in finding the right point guard for their team. Adding the likes of Eric Bledsoe and many other younger players, LAC haven’t had a signature signing in the off-season.

NBA insider clarifies Clippers’ rumored interest in Russell Westbrook

The Lakers adding the 2017 MVP has been perhaps the biggest off-season trade so-far. Given the number of players the Lakers gave up for a star like Westbrook, the trade was seen as a win-win scenario for both the parties.

But before his much anticipated move to the Lakers, there were multiple reports that suggested that Westbrook was targeted by the Clippers as well. Given their lack of a good distributor, Brodie seemed to be the perfect fit alongside Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

While these claims do make for some glaring headlines, NBA insider Zach Lowe recently quashed all these potential rumors. In a recent episode of his podcast, Lowe confirmed that “the Clippers were never interested in Russell Westbrook.”

This certainly might surprise many fans in the NBA. Given that Paul George is familiar with Westbrook’s play style and given the all-round aspect that a player like Brodie can bring in, it is rather shocking LAC never had any interest on the point guard.

This is not the first time though that Kawhi Leonard is not interested to share the court the Westbrook. Even reports emerged that Brodie’s rumors were a key factor in why Paul George was convinced of joining the Clippers.

While the Clippers have had their fair share of doubts on Westbrook, the Lakers have taken a massive leap of faith. Can Russell Westbrook lead the Lakers to a championship much to the dismay of Clippers’ fans?
