NBA players are often some of the highest-paid athletes in the world. Their contracts last for months, many of them taking home hundreds of millions over the span of their careers. Most earn millions in one season, their names on lists declaring them one of the richest in the world. As of now, Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry is the highest-paid athlete in the league, surpassing even LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Back in 2009, the Warriors picked Curry as their Round 1 No. 7 pick, signing him to a contract that paid $2,710,560 during his first season with the team. Their choice, however, paid off. The 33-year-old ended up changing the game of basketball, earning fame as the best shooter anyone has ever seen. If that was not enough, Curry brought home three NBA titles for their team.

Naturally, the Warriors rewarded him with some of the most lucrative deals the league has ever seen. Today, the two-time NBA MVP is the highest-paid NBA athlete for five straight years.

Last month, the Warriors and Curry inked a $215 million, four-year contract extension. General Manager Bob Myers and others have made it clear they want Curry to play and retire with them and seem ready to pay the cost. That being said, Curry will now take home around $48 million for the 2022-23 season, making him the highest-paid athlete. His salary will only increase with the years, where he will earn $59.6 million by the 2025-26 season.

While many eyes have been on his age, Curry had a career-best year last season, scoring 32 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game while shooting 42.1% from three-point range. Even though the team lost their play-in game to the Memphis Grizzlies, Curry proved that he is still in form.

That being said, Curry has beaten LeBron James and Westbrook, among others, to secure his place. King James will be earning $44,474,988 next season, while Westbrook will earn $47,063,478. Chris Paul and James Harden are other NBA icons with deals worth millions of dollars.
