Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young is one of the best young point guards in the league. Trae Young has been impressive for the past three seasons with the Hawks and played in his first playoffs last season. The Hawks made it to the playoffs for the first time in four years. Trae was impressive throughout the playoffs and guided his team to the Conference finals. He has received praise from Lakers legend Magic Johnson for the same.

However, the Hawks lost in the conference finals to eventual champions, Milwaukee Bucks. But Trae Young missed two crucial games due to a bruise on his right foot. He came back for the sixth game, which the Bucks won, ending the Hawks’ playoff campaign. But Trae Young’s performance didn’t go unnoticed.

Magic Johnson showers his love on Trae Young

The NBA has recently released a short film named the ‘NBA Lane’. During one of the filming scenes for its commercial, Magic Johnson stopped and praised Trae Young for his exploits in the playoffs last season.

“You did your thing, man,” Magic Johnson shouted.

“That playoff was stupid. I want some more of that, alright?”

It’s great to see a legendary point guard of the game trying to encourage a young prodigy. Trae Young had a phenomenal run during the playoffs last season. He recorded his playoff career-high 48 points in the 1st game of the conference finals against the Bucks. The Hawks won the first game 116-113 at the Fiserv Forum.

Trae Young had the most point among the Hawks players in the 2nd and 3rd game, but they lost both as the Bucks led the series 2-1. He was ruled out for the third and fourth games due to a bruise on his right foot. He came back for the sixth game and recorded 14 points as the Hawks lost their sixth game, ending their campaign.

Magic Johnson expects more of this from Trae this season. Trae Young has also reacted to the video of Magic Johnson shouting at him.

It’ll be interesting to see if Atlanta Hawks can bounce back this season or not. However, the Eastern Conference has gotten tougher this season, and making it to another conference final will be a gigantic task for Trae Young and co.
