“My kids are older now. They kinda upset with me. Not really upset, but they don’t understand… I tell them all the time,” O’Neal said. “We a’int rich. I’m rich”.

While his words might sound harsh, it is the 49-year-old’s way to motivate his children so they could work hard. He wants them to grow on their own, and not solely rely on the money he has earned. Fans seemed to discuss the same on Twitter, some agreeing with O’Neal.

“There’s one rule: education. I don’t care if you play basketball. I don’t care about none of that,” he added. “Listen, I got six kids. I would like a doctor, somebody to own a hedge fund, a pharmacist, a lawyer, someone that owns multiple businesses, someone to take over my business”. However, he will not be handing it over to them but wants them to earn it instead.
