Money Mayweather has brought some of the greatest amounts of money into boxing. He has invested his money in different sectors such as boxing, fashion, clubs, car racing, among others. Floyd Mayweather and his interest in owning an NBA team

In 2017, Mayweather expressed his desire to own an NBA team. During an old interview, he was asked if he’s into fantasy football. Then Mayweather talked about his interest in owning an NBA team.

“As soon as I get an NBA team, I’m going to stop betting. I’m [walking] away from betting,” Mayweather told ESPN“You can’t bet when you own an NBA team, so I look forward to getting an NBA team in the future. So once I get an NBA team, I’m going to no longer bet.”

He was then asked which NBA franchise is he interested in buying. To this, Mayweather replied that he doesn’t have a team in his mind.

“I don’t know where the team is going to be, but I look forward to having a team someday,” Mayweather replied.

Mayweather has been a regular follower of the NBA. So, it won’t be a surprise if he actually goes on to invest in a franchise. In fact, he even posted a picture of himself with Lakers legend Magic Johnson in 2017, where he mentioned that ‘it’s about time’ for him to buy an NBA franchise. However, there have been no major developments since then.

We know many billionaires owning an NBA franchise at the moment. But it’s not necessary to be a billionaire if someone wants to own a franchise.
