‘The Jewel’ bounced back to the win column by notching the win via unanimous decision, and she is ready to go for the title once again. Being a former champion, Budd is predictably next on the line.

If Cyborg accepts the offer, we can very well expect another blockbuster-thriller in the Bellator promotion.

July Budd wants a piece of Cris Cyborg once again

MMA journalist Amy Kaplan took to Twitter and broke the news about Budd hunting down the rematch with Cyborg.

She also clarified that Budd is unwilling to take any other fight before it. That said, the former champion was seeking a win before she validates the rematch and she has got it done at Bellator 244.

In the rematch against Cyborg, Budd will look for redemption as their original contest was clearly a one-sided affair. Cyborg registered her dominance in her Bellator debut by taking out on one of the vicious women champions of the roster.

Quite an alarming statement to make on her maiden-bout. Cyborg is now the Bellator women’s featherweight champion and is yet to defend her belt.

While she is still to receive an official opponent, a rematch against Julia Budd is relevant on the charts. ‘The Jewel’ was not entitled to an immediate rematch after her crushing defeat against Cyborg.

Instead, she has had to face Jessy Miele to earn the spot. After winning the bout against Miele, Budd has nothing more to prove to get her title fight.

Budd vs Cyborg (The first fight)

After a shocking departure from UFC, Cris Cyborg paved her way to the Bellator with a title-fight on debut.

Cyborg went ahead with an all-out assault over Budd, registering the win via TKO. Before Budd could settle and set up her action, Cyborg unleashed back-to-back shots.

‘The Jewel’ responded by shifting pace and stance throughout However, Cyborg planted some vicious kicks and punches in round four to seal the victory.

Cyborg claimed herself to be the Grand Slam MMA champion, after adding the Bellator title on her resume alongside UFC, Invicta, and Strikeforce belts.
