Bellator 281 saw an interim welterweight championship contest between Michael ‘Venom’ Page and Logan Storley. However, it only came to fruition as the Ukrainian Bellator champion, Amosov, stayed in his country amidst the Russian conflict.

While serving his country, the champion also had one eye on the main event of the Bellator 281. The event where he would’ve fought if not for the unfortunate events back at home.

In an interview with MMA Junkie’s Nolan King, the Bellator champion noted, “I did what I wanted to do. Yes, I understood I had a choice of leaving the country to train, but I don’t consider myself anyone special. I am just a regular citizen of this country as all the other guys that are at war right now.”

The 28-year-old won the Bellator Welterweight Championship in his last outing when he defeated then-champion Douglas Lima in a five-rounder with a unanimous decision. This was Amosov’s seventh straight win in the promotion. Also, he’s undefeated in his professional MMA career. Subsequently, he holds an impressive 26-0 record.

Also, Amosov already has a victory over Logan Storley. He had a scheduled contest against Michael ‘Venom’ Page on this card. However, that couldn’t come to life. Anyhow, if MMA math is any sign, Amosov would’ve defeated MVP as Storley did with a unanimous decision to capture the interim welterweight championship.

When could Bellator fans expect Yaroslav Amosov vs Logan Storley 2?

The Sanford MMA standout, Storley, is a very special talent on Bellator’s roster. He has a 9-1 record inside Bellator’s cage. The only blemish on his record is the courtesy of the Ukrainian champion himself. Although, he has won three straight after the Amosov loss.

Thus, likewise, the champion, even the interim champion, Storley, is on top of his game. And with the unfortunate layoff the championship is having, Storley might turn the tables in the rematch.

As far as the timeline for the rematch, i.e., the unification bout goes, there is no set date as of now. However, the promotion would try to book the fight as soon as possible, in order for the division to keep rolling.
