‘Symptoms Have Been Rough’ – Dillon Danis Nervous About Positive COVID Test

Dillon Danis is well known for his BJJ accomplishments and being one of Conor McGregor’s main training partners. Having made the transition from BJJ to MMA, Bellator signed ‘El Jefe’ in 2017. However, he has only fought twice since then, both being first-round submission wins.
Danis has spent most of his time on the sidelines through injury. Bellator president Scott Coker has said that he would only book Danis again once he is completely fit. ‘El Jefe’ however, has been able to draw attention to himself by making controversial statements. In one bizarre instance, he called out the entire UFC roster.
Recently Dillon Danis has been hit with a new setback- the coronavirus. He took to Twitter to let his fans know that he is still undefeated.

“Tested positive for COVID-19 today, can’t front I’m a bit nervous. Symptoms have been rough, but thank god I’m undefeated this will not be my first loss.”
While the majority of fighters are generally asymptomatic, Danis seems to have had some of the COVID-19 symptoms. However, he seems optimistic about his recovery and will look to get back in the cage sooner rather than later.

Scott Coker has a philosophy that has worked since his StrikeForce days. The Bellator President looks at securing the best free agents and building from the top down. He also looks to sign young talent who excel in one discipline of the martial arts, whether it is wrestling or jiu-jitsu, taekwondo or traditional karate.

Coker said, “A guy like Dillon, with such high-level jiu-jitsu, whenever a fight goes to the ground, he’s going to be a serious threat. He’s going to have to master the stand-up game and everything else, but what I’ve found over the years is that when you take a guy like this, who has competed all over the world in big events, they’re calm and relaxed and they’ll develop if you push them along and nurture them the right way.”
