Claressa Shields is often regarded as one of the top female fighters in the history of combat sports. The American professional boxer has held many titles in her illustrious career. Shields has won four major world titles simultaneously, that too in two different weight classes.

Apart from being a boxing world champion, Shields is also a mixed martial artist. Claressa Shields signed a deal with the PFL fighting championship and recently competed against Brittney Elkin in June earlier this year. She won this fight by TKO in the third round.

Claressa Shields recently fought her second fight at the PFL 2021 season championships. The fight took place on the 27th of October at the PFL World Championship finale. Shields faced off against the Mexican fighter, Abigail Montes, in Hollywood, Florida.

Unfortunately, the Olympic champion couldn’t overcome the Mexican fighter and lost the fight following a split decision.  This was her first-ever loss in her entire career as a professional MMA fighter.

Cyborg has some comforting words for ‘T-Rex’

Cris Cyborg, an MMA legend and former UFC champion, recently took to Twitter to express her thoughts on Claressa Shields’ recent loss.She was inspired by the moves Shields was making and had plenty of positive things to say.

Cris Cyborg has enjoyed a phenomenal mixed martial arts career. She is the current Bellator featherweight champion, as well as a former UFC champion. Even though she has won almost every battle she’s been in, Cris Cyborg has also experienced defeat. During the GWOAT’s tough time Cris’ gesture of support is heartwarming to see.

What’s next for Claressa Shields?

Claressa‘s recent loss against Abigail Montes marked her first defeat in the history of her career. Shields lost this fight because her skills as a grappler weren’t comparable to those of Abigail Montes at this stage of her career. Most fighters of her stature would be pretty let down in their confidence after losing their first fight, however, Shields seems to have taken the loss in a positive manner.

She plans to take her career forward as a boxer and plans to use this loss to fuel her motivation for her next fights. She announced on Twitter that she will be returning to the ring in December. Shields also promised fans that she would return to MMA. Claressa Shields’ attitude is what makes her the champion she is. We wish the G.W.O.A.T the best of luck in her upcoming battles.
