Former UFC featherweight champion, Cris Cyborg has signed with Bellator MMA as announced earlier. the president of Bellator MMA, Scott Coker has claimed that the contract with Cyborg is the biggest in Women’s MMA history.
This puts an end to all the speculations of Cyborg coming back to UFC again. It also ends the saga between the UFC and Cris Cyborg. UFC president, Dana White released Cyborg after her fight with Felicia Spencer in UFC 240.

Since then Dana White has criticized Cyborg a lot in his interviews. White has mentioned that Cyborg was always difficult to work with. He has also said that Cyborg never wanted the fight against Amanda Nunes. White even claimed that Nunes is the best fighter in the history of women’s MMA.

However, Scott Coker seems to disagree with Dana White. Coker mentioned that UFC showed a lack of commitment to the women’s featherweight division. It’s hard to argue against that since Dana White never wanted a 145 women’s division.
Bellator’s president criticized UFC for letting Cyborg go on a recent interview on ESPN. Coker said:

“The day I got the call that Cyborg is a free agent, I couldn’t believe it. A fighter of this stature to have an issue with and let her go just means there is a lack of commitment to that weight division. Luckily we won the prize.”We are in that weight division business. So we thought it was a great fit.”

Scott Coker claimed that Cris Cyborg is the best female fighter in the history of MMA for her unprecedented achievements over the last decade. He also suggested that Dana White is trying to devalue Cyborg by saying otherwise. When asked about his opinion on White calking Nunes the best women fighter, Coker mentioned:

“She is the greatest female fighter of all time. I don’t care what anybody says. It’s just someone trying to come at her and devalue her. But we all know what value Cyborg is. ”

Talking about Amanda Nunes and Cyborg, Coker said that he believes “One fight doesn’t make the legacy of an athlete. But if you think all the accomplishments of Cyborg over the last 10 years, there is nobody better than Cris Cyborg”

The only word to describe the relationship between UFC and Cris Cyborg is “Disaster”. it has been that way since the very beginning. However, Coker who has worked with Cyborg in Strike Force came out to support Cyborg and said UFC never knew what to do with a prized accusation such as Cyborg. Coker mentioned:

“I have never had a problem. This is the first time I heard that she is difficult to work with. Partially I feel like the UFC knew what to do with her. Because they are not in the 145 weight class business. That’s not their core business.”

It’s safe to say that Cris Cyborg moving to Bellator is the right choice for multiple reasons. Cyborg will get an opportunity to be the only women champion in four different organizations, and she will get some tough opponents such as the featherweight champion, Julia Budd. Scott Coker mentioned that a fight for the title does make sense for Cris Cyborg, but it’s not official yet.
