Ben Askren Names The Fighter He Wants to Grapple After UFC Retirement

The Former Bellator and ONE FC champion, Ben Askren has made a few enemies in the game of MMA since his UFC debut. Dillion Danis is one of them for sure.Ben Askren and Dillion Danis have been going at each other on social media since the Funky One has come to UFC. In the process, Dillion Danis has also challenged Ben Askren to a grappling match. However, Askren never accepted the challenge until now.

Dillion Danis is a multiple-time world champion in grappling and he is currently a welterweight in Bellator MMA. Ben Askren has also competed in the grappling competition back in the days and is highly regarded as one of the best grapplers in MMA today. A grappling contest between these two will not only be interesting to watch but also be financially huge.

In his recent interview with Ariel Helwani on ESPN, Ben Askren talked about a potential match up with Dillion Danis and said:

“This point it’s my mma career. When I am done with that if I chose to take part in a grappling contest it would be Dillion Dannis.”

So Askren is open to grappling with Dannis, but not until his MMA career is over.

Talking about his career in grappling, Askren said:
“At this point, it’s just poking. Obviously, he challenged me to a grappling match which I have not particularly have a grappling match in many years. After my MMA career that’s something, I would definitely(do). “

Well, Dannis responded to Askren wishing to fight him and tweeted:

Though Ben Askren is one of the most coveted wrestlers in the USA and he has achieved a lot in mixed martial arts too. He was the welterweight champion at ONE FC and Bellator MMA before he came into the UFC. He was also unbeaten in MMA until his recent knockout loss to Jorge Masvidal.

At this point, Askren is 1-1 in UFC and he needs a win more than anybody else in his next fight to get back to the title picture again. Ben Askren is going to fight Damian Maia in the main event of UFC Singapore.
