The Australian man, Bernard Tomic is back on tennis courts with his scintillating win at China’s Chengdu Open. This victory of Tomic turned out to be his first one over the past three years. Furthermore, was a remarkable week for the Australian qualifier in China. He battled past 6-1 3-6 7-6 (9-7) against the World Number 13, Fabio Fognini. Before wrapping up his victory, Tomic saved four match points in the intense deciding set. Also, the Australian smacked twelve aces and won 70 per cent of his first serves to seize the title Chinese ATP title.

“I think all week I was lucky,” Tomic said. I was supposed to lose in the qualifying in the second round to (Egor) Gerasimov. I was down 3-0, 4-0 in the third set tiebreak. I was down on centre court here first round.” Tomic almost lost his hope to win the match but his warrior-like attitude held his spirit on the court. He also said, “I was down match points in the second round. So for me I saved, I don’t know how many match points this week. “I played really well the whole week. I’m so happy I won.” His World Number 76 ranking might give him a spontaneous enrolment in the 2019 Australian Open.

Tomic has elevated his career ranking from World Number 243 to World Number 123. In addition to that, with this ATP title win, the Australian is now ranked World Number 76. He halted the Italian man, Fogini to become the first Italian ever to win four singles titles in the same season. Chengdu was supposed to be the fourth one after his victories in Sao Paulo, Bastad and Los Cabos. The tears of joy were visible as Tomic dropped on the court after his win, made the sign the of the cross and kissed his workplace. Also, the Australian excelled at placing the flawlessly in his opponent’s court and the level of exasperation raised in Fogini. With both the warriors wrestling on the court the Australian pulled off his title with a powerful crosscourt forehand.
