“Best Minded Athlete”: Former French Open Finalist Pens an Emotional Message to Rafael Nadal

The French Open has finally come to a close, and Rafael Nadal again proved why he is called the ‘king of clay’ by winning the title for the 13th time. Many people thought it would be difficult for him due to the cooler conditions. However, the Spaniard proved all of them wrong as he won the event without dropping a set.
In the process, he equaled the record for the most Grand Slam titles. This was clearly an important win for him – something that was evident when he broke down in tears during the presentation ceremony. Seeing this, compatriot and former World No. 2 Alex Corretja wrote,
“Your tears of emotion are what all of us feel when you win again! You are the best-minded athlete I have ever met! Being able to comment on your professional exploits is an infinite privilege!”

Rafa’s fans are very delighted with his record-breaking Roland Garros victory. However, many of them are also wondering when they will get to see their favorite player back in action. The Spaniard hasn’t revealed his plans yet but he will most likely play the Paris Masters and the ATP Finals.
Both these events are scheduled for November and they will be important for the Spaniard because he has never won them. The reason for this is that he usually sustains many injuries towards the end of the year.
