Bianca Andreescu Fails To Join Elite Club of Venus and Serena Williams Following Loss at Tokyo Olympics 2020 Finals

It was the gold medal match at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and we had the Swiss pair comprising of Belinda Bencic and Viktorija Golubic who were up against Czech pair Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova. The match was won by the Czech pair in straight sets, 7-5 6-1.

Set 1: Belinda Bencic and Viktorija Golubic fall short

The Swiss pair of Belinda Bencic and Viktorija Golubic started the match on a positive note, holding service games without much difficulty.

Similarly, Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova were serving with great consistency too. There came a point when both teams were unable to find a breakthrough.

Eventually, towards the business end of the set, the Czech pair found an opening a got the first break of the match in the 11th game. Later, they consolidated the break and won the set 7-5 in 49 minutes.

Set 2: The Czech pair is too heavy for the Swiss

As the second set began, the Czech team were continuing to dominate. They were on top of their game and made matters worse for the Swiss team. 

They broke the Swiss pair in the opening game and followed it up by breaking for the second time to make it 3-0. However, the Swiss team did put up a fight, breaking back to register their first break of the match.

But the Czech pair had other plans and broke them in the following game to serve at 4-1. In the end, the Swiss team lost the set 6-1.

Now that the Olympics have concluded, we wish the players the best of luck as they get set to compete at the events during the US Open Series. It will be interesting to see who creates an impact.
