There’s another bad news for the fans of Bianca Andreescu. After sitting out at three tournaments that she was scheduled to participate in, the Canadian sensation is all set to miss out on the Qatar Total Open as well.

What is worse is that this puts her hopes of participating at Indian Wells in serious jeopardy. She is the defending champion at the WTA Premier Mandatory tournament. The only bright side for her fans was that she might be able to make her return on a positive note.

Now, in the best-case scenario, she will be donning the tennis gear at Indian Wells without any match practice. This is the fourth major tournament that she is missing after the Australian Open, Fed Cup and the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships. She also missed out on the year opening ASB Classic where she had been the runner up in 2019.

While some thought, that she might require surgery, Andreescu continuously rebuked these rumours. However, her backtracking on return dates made her fans feel otherwise.

“Well, I don’t need surgery, so I wouldn’t say it’s very bad,” Bianca had said to put an end to speculations.

“I’m very sad to announce that I won’t be able to compete in the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships next week. I’m not at 100 per cent yet and following my team and doctor’s recommendation; I don’t want to take any risk to reinjure my knee. Each day I get closer to being back to the court competing but Dubai is just too soon. I hope I can come and play in Dubai next year.”
