Bianca Andreescu is finally making her much-awaited return to tennis. However, it’s not in the manner which the fans would’ve preferred.

Andreescu will be a competitor at the Virtual Madrid Open Pro 2020. She won’t really have a tennis racquet to prove her fitness. Instead, she would have a play station and a game controller to navigate her way to a victory.

Notably, Bianca Andreescu has been out since the WTA Finals owing to a nagging knee injury. Despite several false signals, the Canadian star has still not been able to make her much-awaited return. As soon as she was able to step back at the court for the Miami Open, the entire tennis season got canceled. Andreescu recently spoke to the Tennis Channel about the hottest topic in the sport today.

Bianca Andreescu was asked a question about the contentious idea of an ATP-WTA merger. She became the latest in a long list of tennis stars to support that idea.

“Yeah, honestly I do and I think it’s gonna be a good thing for the sport. It’s definitely a positive opportunity for tennis to take a leadership position and something like this and it’ll definitely get tennis more unified. And I know Billie Jean King has been advocating for this for a while now and I’ve always had her back on this.”

Interestingly, Bianca Andreescu didn’t mention Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal in her statement. She instead chose to go with an icon in the form of Billie Jean King who has been a key supporter for this cause for a very long time. There’s a section of the tennis community who opine that Rafa and Roger are trying to steal the credit from this particular warrior.

Do you think there’s any kind of sense in such rumors?
