The Miami Open which commenced on 21st March seems to have taken an interesting turn as the top guns crashed out of the tournament.

Second seed Andy Murray was ousted by Grigor Dimitrov in a third round match which the Bulgarian won coming from a set down as 6-7 (1/7), 6-4, 6-3. The match was wrapped up in 2 hr 25 mins and Murray clearly seemed exhausted in the heat. The two time grand slam champion has certainly been unsuccessful in leveling up his game since the final loss at Australian Open this year.

The top woman player, Serena Williams was knocked out from the tournament by the Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova in an epic 3 setter that went 6-7 (3-7) 6-1 6-2. Williams lost a shot at her ninth title at this event. The top seed now has a title drought since August 2015. “There are expectations,” she said. “There are also the expectations I put on myself. That’s pretty hard to live up to, the expectations I put on myself.”
Meanwhile the second seed Aga Radwanska has also been eliminated by Timea Bacsinszky of Switzerland 2-6 6-4 6-2.

The world No.1 duo of Santina, as they are famously called, were ousted from the tournament in the second round. This is the second time they have lost this early after a second round shock at the Indian Wells. The loss came at the hands of Margarita Gasparyan and Monica Niculescu who defeated the Indo-Swiss pair 6-4 6-2 by breaking their serve five times in  just over an hour. The magic of the pair seems to have evanesced after their 41 match win streak was broken in Doha last month.
