Ferrari had an amazing British Grand Prix weekend as both of the drivers finished in the Top-6. Carlos Sainz finished a solid sixth after a slow pit stop, but it was Charles Leclerc who made all the headlines at Silverstone.

The Monegasque driver finished the race in second after leading the race for 50 out of 52 laps. Leclerc was devastated that he could not bring home the car in the first place but also proud of the team’s performance at the race.

Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto has come out to tell the reason behind the Italian team’s success at Silverstone.

As reported by racingnews365, Binotto pointed out the hard work on the simulator behind their Silverstone success. The Ferrari team principal stated that the team has worked tirelessly to rectify the mistakes from Paul Ricard.

“I think this is why I’m happy and pleased, to see the progress,” said Binotto.

“I won’t go into the details on what we did, but we certainly worked a lot in the simulator with simulations, with the drivers, with the team, trying to get a better understanding of what’s wrong, how to address it,” said the Ferrari team principal.

Binotto stated that the team was disappointed that they could not hold on to the win but are happy with the podium. Mattia also mentioned that team has made major improvements since Paul Ricard.

I think obviously it was disappointing [to lose out on the victory to Hamilton] two laps from the end.

But I think we should be pleased as well: pleased with the race performance, for the entire weekend performance,” said Binotto.

The Italian team has closed down the gap to P3 to McLaren in the championship. They are now just 15 points behind their rivals and would hope to close the gap even more at Hungary.
