As we come close to another Gamescom, fans’ excitement goes through the roof as they hope to see footage of new titles this year. The anticipation building up to the event is unreal. Which developers will showcase games? Will there be a new game revealed? All of these questions face the minds of fans as they eagerly wait for the event to take place. At Gamescom 2023, it seems we finally have a first look at a long-awaited title.

Game Science Studios confirmed Black Myth: Wukong will be at Gamescom 2023. This is the first time the game will be on a showcase since its initial announcement over three years ago.

Black Myth: Wukong comes in big for Gamescom 2023

One thing we know about gamers is they love an action game set in mythology. Games such as God of War continually succeed simply because fans love the way devs create the story. With this love for mythology, Game Science Studios first announce Black Myth: Wukong back in 2020. Ever since then, they kept slipping details now and again, but the inclusion in this year’s Gamescom is a big step forward.

2023 seems to be the charm for Black Myth: Wukong. The game finally came out guns blazing, releasing a small gameplay trial filled with three bosses. An initial look at the game left fans quite impressed, especially with the way the game’s graphics look. Combat feels quite smooth, as players can switch between stances, use a variety of spells, and transform Wukong.

The Gamescom reveal has big things in store for the title. In addition to the trailer coming during the event, the arrival of Black Myth this year brings promising details about its release. The game now has a Steam page, with a planned release date of sometime in 2024.  Ideally, given the timing of the showcase event, the release date should come sometime during the Summer of 2024, especially since the game looks beautiful in its current state.

Players cannot wait to see what the game has in store for them. Built around the legend of Wukong, or the Monkey King, from Chinese heritage, players take control of a legendary warrior. Most prominently featured in the novel titled ‘Journey to the West’, Wukong is incredibly strong, skilled, and fast. However, only Game Science knows where this story will take players.
