Bob Arum reveals the real problem with Garcia vs Davis

In an interview with FightHypeTV, Arum revealed the real reason why Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia is hard to pull off and any other fight that would pique interest, for that matter.

You gotta understand what the real problem is we know that the Garcia fight with Tank Davis, that is a very interesting fight that’ll do really well. What does really well mean anymore? Where the results on PPV are abysmal, whether it’s because the prices are too high or more than likely because of the piracy,” he said, claiming that piracy was the real issue and that the PPV prices would be too high for people to buy the fight.

Moreover, he also stated that these fights would do considerably well in the past when there was no internet and that even teenagers could now stream fights for free.”A fight like that in the old days would do maybe 700,000 to a million buys, now you’re lucky if it does 250,000… a teenager knows how to get a stream without buying the fight you know. I see it all the time with friends who have teenage kids who can get the stream easier than buying,” he added.

Oscar De La Hoya claims he can make Ryan Garcia vs Gervonta Davis happen

In a previous interview, Garcia’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya claimed that he can make the fight between Davis and Garcia by the end of the year happen, after Floyd Mayweather dismissed Tank moving up to 140 pounds to face The Flash. “Ryan Garcia, Tank Davis, end of the year. I will make it happen all right, just me. I will make it happen, nobody else can make it happen,” he said in the interview.

If De La Hoya can somehow pull this off, it would certainly be a throwback to his fight with Mayweather which was the biggest fight of that time; however, there are certain challenges they will have to face that they wouldn’t have had to back in the day.

Do you think Garcia vs Davis can take place by the end of the year? Let us know in the comments.
